Paul Reid, CEO of The Reid Group/Crosby’s, recently received the New York Association of Convenience Stores’ 2019 Carl Tripi Award at the association’s Chairman’s Banquet held May 16 in Syracuse, N.Y.
Given annually in recognition of “low-profile, high-impact” contributions to the association and the convenience store industry as a whole, the Carl Tripi Award is named for the former chairman of Tripifoods Inc., who played a quiet but active role in NYACS and ensured the association had the financial and volunteer support it needed to succeed.
“It’s truly an honor to be recognized with the Carl Tripi Award,” said Reid. “I believe it is critical for businesses to support their industry associations and the needs of their communities as part of being a best-in-class business. I’m humbled by this recognition, and will continue to support NYACS’ efforts and local causes to make our stores and our communities the best that they can be.”
Reid is a third-generation member of family-owned and operated The Reid Group, the parent company of Crosby’s Convenience Stores. Under his leadership, Crosby’s has grown and expanded, and now operates 82 locations throughout Western New York and Northwestern Pennsylvania.
He is also well known and respected nationally within the petroleum industry through his work with Reid Petroleum, also part of The Reid Group. A longtime member of the board of the Society of Independent Gasoline Marketers of America, Reid served as president of SIGMA from 2006-2008 and testified to Congress on motor fuel issues. Most recently he chaired a national nonprofit – The Fuel Foundation – which was tasked with research in the petroleum industry, education for participating members, and providing college scholarships for students of industry members. He is also active in local charitable causes in his home of Lockport, N.Y., where he lives with his wife and family.
